Driver dies after car hits fence

A driver was killed when his car veered off the road and hit a fence.

The motorist, a man in his 40s who has not yet been named, was fatally injured in the crash in Rochester Road, Cuxton, just after 9pm on Sunday night.

Fire-fighters from Strood and Halling stations assisted paramedics but the emergency teams were unable to save the man,who was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers in the car, a black Peugeot 306.

A police spokesman said the car was travelling between Cuxton and Snodland when the accident happened.

The spokesman added: "The driver appears to have lost control of the vehicle and left the carriageway."

The dead man has not yet been formally identified.
