Driver cut from car wreck

RUSH hour traffic on the A249 was brought to a standstill this morning after a car crash on the Sittingbourne side of Kingsferry Bridge. The 18-year-old driver of a red Peugeot 205 had to be cut from the wreckage after being in collision with an Environment Agency tractor.

The teenager, from Cliff Drive, Warden, Sheppey, escaped with minor injuries. The smash happened just after 8am, 100 yards south of the roundabout near the bridge. The tractor driver, from Central Parade, Herne Bay, was not hurt. Traffic could not be diverted via the old Sheppey Way due to roadworks.
