Driver charged with assaulting woman PC

A 23-year-old man is due to appear before a court today charged with assault on a Kent police officer and dangerous driving following an incident in Rochester in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Ezekiel Ojo, of Fidelis Road, Eirth, is also accused of driving while disqualified and use of a motor vehicle without third party insurance.

During the alleged incident a female officer tried to detain a motorist and was carried in a car for some distance before the vehicle struck a tree in The Esplanade, Rochester.

The officer and driver were taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Ojo is due to appear before Medway Magistrates' Court. Kent Police are still seeking witnesses to the incident.
