The owner of a yacht that had broken adrift has been traced.

The Whitstable lifeboat crew discovered the boat while on exercise on Sunday.

On inspection, they found the craft with its cabin locked and an anchor chain overboard but unattached to a mooring or anchor and showing signs of having broken adrift.

They towed the craft to a mooring off of Whitstable.

The owner of the yacht who comes from Ashford has now been contacted and has confirmed his vessel had broken adrift from its mooring at Hollowshore at the mouth of Faversham Creek

The craft was a 28ft motor yacht.
