Don't watch this film if you're squeamish

Sorry, this video asset has been removed.

Smile, you're on camera. On second thoughts, don't bother. Keeping tight-lipped was good advice for competitors in Kent's attempt to break what must surely be one of the most bizarre of the Guiness world records - the number of snails you can balance on your face.

Surprisingly, 10 youngsters tried to better the current record of 25 at an event in Wye to mark the 30th anniversary of the North Downs Way.

Young Evie Barton seemed to have the record in her hands, or rather on her face. More than the necessary 26 snails needed to make her the new world champion were clinging to her face as the adjudicator started counting. Then a large cluster dropped off, leaving her six short of the record.

No one else managed to break the record - so the bookies didn't have the shell out. Steve Bodycomb was there to film the "fun".

An attempt was also made on the simultaneous cartwheel world record attempt. See our film>>>
