Don't panic - fuel still flowing at petrol stations

Kent petrol stations are holding firm under fire - as motorists flock to stock up on fuel.

It was a mixed message across Kent today, with some stations reporting business as usual, while others kept fingers crossed that stocks would last.

The tanker drivers' four-day strike over pay began at 6am today, and is expected to continue for four days.

The industrial action affects around 600 drivers working for two companies with contracts to deliver petrol to Shell forecourts.

With one in 10 petrol stations in the UK run by Shell, union chiefs were predicting shortages.

Despite Government pleas for motorists not to panic buy fuel, petrol stations around the county are already reporting increased business and shortages.
