Do you recognise carpet conman?

A carpet conman who charged a pensioner for work that was never done is being hunted by police.

Detectives have issued this e-fit picture of one of two men they want to question following an incident when two men called at a home in Milne Road, Willesborough, on April 9.

The elderly male occupant was told that by two men who called at his home that they could fit new carpet in the house. A price was agreed and a quantity of cash was handed over.

One of the men left the house saying he was going to fetch tools, and the other man left shortly after saying he would be back soon.

Neither returned to complete the work.

The first man, who is the subject of the e-fit is described as white, slim build with wavy, mousey-coloured collar length hair. He was clean shaven, wore a dark t-shirt and spoke with a London accent.

The second was white, stocky build, fair, balding hair, wearing a white t-shirt and blue trousers, and also spoke with a London accent.

Kent Trading Standards have been informed of the incident and police are urging householders not to enter into any agreements with callers of this nature.
