A LORRY driver escaped unhurt when his unladen vehicle became wedged underneath a railway bridge.

Police officers closed South Eden Park Road, Beckenham, for more than three hours and trains were disrupted because of the incident which happened last Thursday afternoon.

Thousands of school children and other people had their journey home disrupted. The vehicle was removed by a recovery company.

A spokeswoman for Bromley police said the driver himself had called them after the crash. She added: "There were no casualties and no arrests."
