Disabled couple's attack ordeal

A disabled couple were shaken up after an unprovoked attack by a man who ran at their car smashing the windscreen before shouting abuse and running off.

The terrifying ordeal happened to Spina Bifida sufferers Jodie Charnock, 26, and her boyfriend Chris Wibberley, 31, as they were returning from a trip to Tesco.

The couple were driving from the store in Sheerness to Miss Charnock’s parents’ home in Queenborough when the man ran at the car and jumped into the windscreen, shattering the glass.

They say they do not know the man and were “shocked” by the incident which happened while they were driving from the corner of Whiteway Road into North Road, Sheerness, in Miss Charnock’s black Renault Megane.

Miss Charnock, who lives off Main Road, Queenborough, said: “There was a man standing in the road opposite where some new houses are being built so I stopped the car as I didn’t know which way he was going.

“He then ran at the car and jumped full-shoulder into the windscreen which smashed and was dented in from the force."

Neither were injured, but they were left shaken up by the incident which happened on Tuesday of last week at about 6pm.

Mr Wibberley called the police and the couple were taken to Miss Charnock’s parents’ home.

The car was brought to the house shortly after wards.
