Did you witness racist attack on doctor?

A 37-year-old Chinese doctor is recovering after being brutally punched and kicked in a racist attack.

The doctor was walking on his own in North Street, Strood, near a Post Office, when he encountered a large group of youths.

The group, both boys and girls, shouted racist abuse at him while five of them – three young men and two young women – attacked him, punching and kicking him to the ground. He was left with injuries to his head and face and broke his glasses.

Detectives are now trying to trace a motorist who they believe may have witnessed the attack.

The violent incident took place on Tuesday, August 23, between 10pm and 11pm but details have only just been released in a bid to find the motorist.

Det Sgt Mel Rickersey said: “We believe that this unprovoked and cowardly attack only ceased because a passing car stopped and the youths dispersed. We urgently need the person driving the car to come forward to help us identify the people responsible.”
