Detectives launch murder probe

POLICE today launched a murder investigation after a man died in hospital from head injuries. The man, who was aged 44, was earlier discovered dying in a pool of blood in Richmond Road, Gillingham.

Minutes before, nearby residents said they heard shouts and screams they thought were coming from a house party.

The man was alive when paramedics arrived at the scene after 1am, but died shortly afterwards at Medway Maritime Hospital.

Police officers carried out door-to-door inquiries along the street. Paramedics, who were first on the scene, later gave statements to police.

Two men are being questioned by detectives in connection with the death.
