Traffic tailed back for more than six miles after a serious crash on the M2 - which saw one car facing the wrong way on the carriageway.

Tailbacks at just before 10am stretched to more than 6.5 miles in the coastbound direction.

The M2 coastbound is now reopned after police and recovery teams sorted out the wreckage between J6 A251 (Faversham) and J7 A2 (Brenley Corner)

The London bound carriageway was also shut earlier so the air ambulance could land and attend to a woman trapped in her car.

It has also reopened, and the woman is said to have serious but not life-threatening head injuries at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.
