Martin Allen has yet to decide who will skipper his side next season.

But the Gillingham manager has made Andy Frampton club captain ahead of the new season.

"I don’t know who is going to be captain to be honest," Allen said.

"There are quite a few of them (who could do it). I told everyone on Friday that Andrew Frampton will be our club captain.

"He will liaise between the players and ourselves, and Andrew Frampton is an asset around the club. He’s a good left-footed centre-half and can play left-back, play anywhere.

"He is great at the training ground."

Frampton missed out at the weekend with a bruised foot, picked up in the game at Dover last week.

Midfielder Charlie Lee has been wearing the armband in recent games.

Allen said: "He is a good lad and captain which was nice. We will see how that one pans out.

"All the players really enjoy his (Lee’s) company and he has been really good to me and the team."
