Defendant Marcus Coates to stand trial for murder of Jennie Banner

A man will stand trial after pleading not guilty at Maidstone Crown Court today to the murder of a 32-year-old woman in Medway.

Marcus Coates, of Ernest Way, Chatham, is alleged to have strangled Jennie Banner, (pictured left) whose body was found at her home in New Road on August 19.

Coates, 43, was remanded in custody until the trial on January 23 next year.
