Declan smashes singing record

DECLAN Galbraith yesterday smashed his way into the Guinness World Record books. At 2.45pm the 10-year-old singing superstar from Hoo broke the Guinness World record for the largest simultaneous sing.

Declan led a choir of nearly 4000 children at the Belfast Odyssey, and was joined by 100,000 children nationwide in a performance of Tell Me Why.

Declan's proud mother Siobhan, who witnessed her son's achievement, said the experience was overwhelming. "It was weird having 12,000 people screaming Declan's name.

"The children sang beautifully. I was so proud."

School children across Medway helped support Declan. Youngsters from schools including Skinner Street Primary School, Gillingham, Borstal Manor Junior School, Rochester, Gads Hill School, Rochester and English Martyrs, Chatham.

Declan, who signed a £1 million recording contract, had the song written exclusively for him by Barry Mason -- the songwriter behind Tom Jones' hit Delilah.
