Death of train tragedy woman 'not suspicious'

THE death of an 85-year-old woman who was struck by a train in the county on Wednesday is not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.

The woman was hit by the 6.16am Victoria Station to Ramsgate service when it was travelling at around 60mph on the coastbound section of the line near Hertley Bottom Road, between Longfield and Meopham, just after 7am.

Police say the victim was from Longfield Hill and her next of kin are being informed.

Services in the area were severely disrupted as a result of the incident and subsequent investigation.
