Dartford have accepted a five-figure bid from AFC Bournemouth for 12-goal striker Charlie Sheringham.

The former Welling and Bishop's Stortford forward, who was at Crystal Palace and Ipswich as a youngster, tops the scoring charts in Blue Square Bet South this season.

Sheringham (pictured) could complete his move to the League 1 outfit by the start of the week after Dartford confirmed they had agreed a fee. He would initially move on loan before making the switch permanent when the transfer window opens at the start of January.

Dartford company chairman Bill Archer said "Charlie Sheringham has been informed of the offer from AFC Bournemouth, and is currently taking advice from his advisors with regards to this.

"Charlie is really happy at Dartford FC; he doesn't need to go away and leave and we will hang on to him if possible, but we will not stand in his way to progression if he chooses to move on."

Sheringham, the son of former Manchester United and England forward Teddy, played 90 minutes in Dartford's FA Cup third qualifying round win over Cray Wanderers on Saturday. Ironically he would be suspended for the next round after collecting his fifth caution of the season during the game.
