A Kent MP has criticised a party colleague's attempt to ban the wearing of burkas in public.

The MP for Ashford, Damian Green, told a national newspaper a ban was "very unlikely".

The Immigration Minister also said it would be an "un-British thing to do".

It comes after Tory MP Philip Hollobone called for a Parliamentary debate on whether people should be banned from covering their faces in public.
