Skoda is celebrating after recording its best ever month for new car sales.

The Czech manufacturer sold 75,790 vehicles worldwide in September, and saw UK year-to-date registrations grow to 28 per cent up on the previous year.

The popularity of the fuel efficient Greenline models has been of benefit to the company and its Octavia model remains the most popular vehicle worldwide, closely followed by the compact Fabia.

"With an attractive model range, Skoda has continued on its successful path during the third quarter of 2010," said Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland, chairman of the board of Skoda Auto.

"In light of the sales development to date and the record month of September, we are confident that we will sell significantly more vehicles this year than in 2009."
