Cyclist fights for life after road crash

A MAN suffered life-threatening injuries when his bicycle was in collision with a car on a Kent high street.

The crash happened just before 10pm on Friday on the crossroads at High Street, Pembury, near Tunbridge Wells, at the junction with Pembury Road and Pembury northern bypass.

The car, a dark-coloured Renault Clio, was travelling towards Tunbridge Wells on the northern bypass. The bicycle was being ridden from High Street, Pembury, towards the crossroads.

The cyclist was taken to Kent and Sussex Hospital where his condition is described as life-threatening. The driver of the car was not hurt.

The road was closed while emergency services examined the scene. It had reopened by 4.30am on Saturday.
