Cyclist dies after crash on A2

A CYCLIST has died in hospital after being in collision with a car on the A2 near the Bluewater shopping complex.

The accident happened on the London-bound carriageway, just after the junction for the shopping centre, at around 10.30am on Monday.

The cyclist, a 35-year-old man, was taken to Darent Valley Hospital at Dartford but later died.

Both the cyclist and the car had been travelling in the same direction. The car driver was unhurt.

Police initially closed the road as officers investigated the accident but one lane was shortly afterwards re-opened.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "We are appealing for witnesses to this incident."
