ANDY HESSENTHALER: suggtesed the pitch should be dig up

GILLINGHAM'S problem pitch is again under fire after the matches against Norwich and Wimbledon had to be postponed - and Saturday's FA Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday looks to be in some doubt.

Waterlogging at the Rainham End is the major factor. More heavy rain has fallen in the county over the weekend to make the problem even worse.

Earlier in the season, player-manager Andy Hessenthaler called for the pitch to be dug up and re-surfaced.

Those calls are now certain to intensify in the coming weeks and months.
