Crash claims life of pedal cyclist

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road crash which claimed the life of a male pedal cyclist.

The accident happened at about 10.35 pm on Tuesday night on the B2075 Lydd to New Romney road, around 800m south of the A259.

A recovery truck travelling from Lydd was involved in a collision with a man on a pedal cycle travelling in the same direction.

The cyclist was taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital where he died.

The victim has not yet been officially identified but is believed to be a 33-year-old man from the Brenzett area.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either the recovery truck or cycle before the incident is asked to contact the crash investigation unit on 01622 600970.
