DETECTIVES have named a couple involved in a domestic incident which resulted in the death of a husband and left his wife recovering in hospital.

Police were called to the home of Emmanuel and Lydia Djan, in Allington Drive, Strood, on Wednesday, February 4, after neighbours reported hearing a disturbance and shouting.

Officers found Mr Djan, 36, had suffered a single stab wound, thought to have been in the neck, and Mrs Djan, 34, had suffered serious burns which where believed to have been caused by boiling water.

Both were taken to the Medway Maritime Hospital at Gillingham, where Mr Djan was pronounced dead on arrival. His wife was later transferred to a specialist burns unit in East Grinstead in west Sussex.

A post mortem examination has confirmed Mr Djan died from a knife injury. An inquest will be held at a later date.

Officers have continued to interview friends and family in a bid to find out what led to the tragedy but say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the indecent.

A spokesman for Medway Police said: "No-one has been charged in connection with the death."
