Commuters heading to London this morning faced delays of up to half an hour after a fire on the railway tracks at Margate.

Southeastern services running through Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate were all disrupted and many made fewer stops, bypassing the Medway Towns, Herne Bay and Whitstable.

According to Kent Fire and Rescue, the fire has now been put out and all lines have re-opened.

But Southeastern said although services are returning to normal, many may still be subject to delays or cancellations.
