A man has appeared in court today after an early-morning stand-off in Dover where officers fired a rubber bullet.

Christopher Farmer, 25, from Singledge Lane in Whitfield, is accused of using an imitation firearm to cause fear of violence.

He was remanded in custody when he appeared before Dover magistrates this morning.

Police were called to a house at 4.15am on Saturday following reports a man had a gun.

Officers fired a rubber bullet at the man's leg when he briefly left the property and headed towards police in what has been described as a ‘threatening manner’.

After further negotiations the man surrendered and was arrested.
