Chopper alert to find missing boy

A police helicopter was scrambled in a frantic search to find a missing child.

The chopper was called in from Essex after 10-year-old Keith Thomas was reported missing around 1pm on Saturday.

The youngster, of Kent Avenue, Minster, had last been seen near his home.

The helicopter, which is shared by Essex and Kent forces, arrived on the Island and circled above Minster, Sheerness and Blue Town for more than an hour.

A loud hailer was used to relay his description to members of the public so they could help with the search.
