A block of flats were evacuated after a chip pan fire on the 12th floor.

Crews from Thames-side, Swanscombe, Dartford and Strood used breathing apparatus when they tackled the blaze at the Carl Ekman House flats in Tooley Street, Northfleet after receiving a call at 6.15pm on Monday.

A man, thought to be about 24, was rescued from the property and, though conscious, suffered breathing difficulties.

Crews ventilated the property and left the scene just after 7pm.

Ambulance crews were also in attendance.
