Chatham Town (red/black) and Ashford Town (yellow/green) played out a stalemate in Ryman League Division 1 South

Ashford Town produced a fine rearguard effort to earn a share of the points in the Kent derby at Chatham Town on Saturday.

The Chats failed to score at home for the second successive game as they again failed to break down a Ryman League Division 1 South struggler at Maidstone Road.

Ashford - with nine defeats in 10 previous away games this season - earned their first clean-sheet of the season and recorded only their second point away from Homelands.

Chances were at a premium and Brendon Cass came closest for the Chats but fired straight at Nuts and Bolts keeper Seb Barton late-on.

In a fiery game of seven bookings, Ashford's influential skipper Toby Ashmore was sent off for two bookable offences in the closing stages.

The draw saw Alex O'Brien's side drop a place to fifth and lose ground on the leaders, while Ashford remain mired in the bottom three.

Folkestone Invicta maintained their fine form with a 2-1 win at Corinthian Casuals on Saturday.

Two goals from James Everitt earned the points which kept Invicta joint top of Ryman League Division 1 South, level on points with Worthing, but with a game in hand.
