Saturday will be one of those days as a footballer that sticks with me for the rest of my life.

We’ve really achieved something here, and it’s not often that you get to genuinely say that over your career.

We’ve broken records left, right and centre this season; whether it’s for clean sheets or winning 101 points – the entire squad have got to be really proud of what they’ve done.

I’m not one for getting teary or overly emotional, I just enjoyed the day.

It’s a great group of lads, and now we’ve got to sit back and enjoy it before the hard work starts again in July.

The fans have been fantastic this season – they have been with us home and away, and that’s been vital.

Now the club and its supporters have got to enjoy the moment, and look forward to next year in the Championship when we need them to be just as strong.

I was pleased with my goal on Saturday and it was a corner routine that Rhoys Wiggins and I perfected in our days at AFC Bournemouth. I’ve seen him play that near-post corner a fair few times now, and luckily enough I made the run and Rhoys found me.

It will be my first time playing in the Championship, as it will be for a lot of the lads. It’s going to be a new experience for us, but it’s one that we are all looking forward to.

As a squad, we feel we are good enough to compete in the Championship, so it’s a case of taking it game by game, and seeing how we get on.

The danger now is that people have seen Southampton and Norwich City and what they have achieved by gaining back-to-back promotions, and expect the same from us, but it’s a case of taking it game by game and seeing where we end up.

There are going to be some great teams coming to The Valley next season, and it’s going to be good for all of us to test ourselves against those types of players.

When 21 players joined the club in the summer, I thought it was going to be hard for us all to get on, but we went away to Spain in pre-season and gelled really well.

From that week, we felt a lot closer and obviously the results helped. Chris Powell deserves huge credit for that.

The gaffer had a great career as a player, so any advice he offers, we take it in, because he has played for England and been there and done it. We want to make him just as proud next season because this year has been fantastic.

It’s been an incredible year for all of us, and hopefully the Championship can be just as enjoyable. See you in August!
