Charlie Lee made his first start for the Gills in eight games on Saturday, and boss Martin Allen was pleased with the midfielder’s return.

Lee, pictured, hadn’t started a game for more than a month and was recently out with a virus. He lasted 76 minutes at Cheltenham before coming off injured.

He was one of several players to pick up a knock in the match but Allen said: “I thought he played well.

"He was due to play before but then he got a virus and he couldn’t play and he was out with a poorly tummy which wiped him out a bit.

“He did a good job for the team. He came off injured in the second half but hopefully it wasn’t too bad.”
