The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed Carole Chastney is free to continue her career

A DISTRICT Crown Prosecutor for Canterbury and Thanet, accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice, has been told the case is being discontinued.

Carole Chastney, 40, was due to stand trial at Croydon Crown Court.

The barrister, of Dover Road, Guston, near Dover, has been reinstated.

She was arrested in November, 2004, following an alleged domestic incident at her home.

A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service in London said: "Following a review of the case it was decided not to go ahead because there was not enough evidence to mount a successful prosecution.

"Therefore the charges have been dropped and she is free to continue with her career."
