A CARAVAN that crashed and flipped onto its roof caused motorway mayhem and led to two-hour tailbacks.

It was first feared that someone was trapped in the vehicle and that two other cars were involved, but Kent Fire and Rescue service later confirmed this was not the case.

It is not yet known how the caravan came to overturn and land in the middle lane.

The crash took place on the M20 London-bound carriageway at junction six at about 10.15am on Tuesday.

Fire crews from Larkfield and Maidstone attended the scene, as well as an ambulance and motorcycle responder.

Two people were treated at the scene and no one was taken to hospital. The motorway was running smoothly again just after noon.
