A car was left up an embankment in one of at least two accidents on the A249 in Sittingbourne yesterday.

Four vehicles were thought to have been involved in a collision on the Maidstone-bound carriageway at 8am, near the Grovehurst turn-off.

Drivers heading in that direction were also held up by another crash near the Key Street roundabout.

A police spokesman said the accident happened when a car hit the central reservation.

Officers coned off a lane and were seen with shovels clearing debris.
