Damage estimated at £10,000 was caused when a car crashed into the front of a motorcycle shop.

The accident happened at Alford Brothers in Cheriton Road, Folkestone, last Wednesday night.

Police were called at 7.40pm. The driver of the car, thought to be a local man, fled the scene and is being sought.

Mark Ansell, a director of the Alford Brothers, said the car had gone through the front window.

“We are still open but there was a lot of damage and we will need a new shop front,” he said. “We did not lose any stock but some was damaged.”

No-one was seriously injured.

Firefighters were called to make the scene safe.
