Gillingham top scorer Simeon Jackson will miss Saturday's home match with Oldham because of an international call-up by Canada.

The Canada national team travel to Macedonia for a friendly international on Saturday and are then in Poland for a game on Wednesday.

Jackson (pictured) has six caps to his name so far. His last came in the summer when Canada were knocked out of the Gold Cup by Honduras.

Gillingham boss Mark Stimson is pleased to see Jackson get recognition but admits he’s not so keen to lose his 11-goal leading scorer for important club matches.

"It’s very frustrating because he’s a massive part of our team but that’s the international scene and we can’t do anything about it," he said.

"It’s nice that we can say we’ve got an international player but next week against Oldham we need our best with us but we have to get on with it."
