CCTV images of an armed raid have been released by police.

Staff at The Co-op, in Marley Way, Rochester, were subjected to a terrifying ordeal on Tuesday when a man wielding a knife entered the store at around 9.40pm and demanded money.

He is described as white, in his 30s, around 5ft 7ins tall with dark-brown hair and of medium build. He was wearing a dark green jacket, dark brown hooded top, grey trousers, black shoes and had a dark brown scarf wrapped around his face.

The knife had a black handle and silver serrated blade.

PC Dan Mead said: "We believe that after committing the robbery the suspect ran in the direction of Dorrit Way, Rochester. No one was injured in the incident but members of staff at the shop were shaken."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01634 792526 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
