Bumper entries for pony races

TWO pony races at the Easter Saturday Ashford Valley point-to-point race meeting at Charing, near Ashford, have attracted big entries.

Pony Races on the racecourse give young potential point-to-point jockeys the opportunity to experience the thrill of racing in front of thousands of racegoers at Charing.

Two races, one for under 12-year-olds and the second for under 15-year-olds, are open to riders from all over the South East. Ponies are paraded in the paddock before the race.

Ashford Valley point-to-point officials supervise the two races over the flat four furlong course. Safety for young riders is essential, with those taking part having all attended a practice run on the racecourse to understand the rules.

Sponsored by Kent based Creative Corporate Communications, the pony racing an established opener to the six-card afternoon racing.
