Brave woman. 55. beats off Faversham sex attacker

A brave bookworm fought off a sex attacker with her sandal, police revealed today.

The 55-year-old woman was attacked at Iron Wharf in Abbey Street, Faversham, on July 24.

Police said she was sitting reading a book on a bench at around 8pm when a man sat down and tried to talk to her.

He then got up from the bench and returned half an hour later - suddenly grabbing her hand and placing it on his crotch.

The woman hit him over the head with a sandal and was able to get away from him.

The offender is described as white, in his 60s, of medium build, 5ft 10 tall and was wearing fawn coloured trousers and a green top.
