Boy, 16, dies after accident

A Rochester man is in hospital following a road crash which killed a teenage pedestrian.

The man, who has not been named, was driving a maroon Vauxhall Vectra when it collided with the teenager in London Road, Northfleet, at about 4pm on Saturday. A parked car was also involved in the crash.

The youngster, from Bromley, was taken by air ambulance to the Royal London Hospital, in Whitechapel, with a broken leg, pelvis and collapsed lung, but died in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He is thought to have been walking with his father when the car left the road and mounted the pavement.

Police said the car driver was being treated for arm and leg injuries in a local hospital.

They are appealing for witnesses to the incident. Anyone who saw the collision, or the moments just before it, is asked to call Kent Police's Serious Collision Witness Appeal Line on 01622 798538.
