Body in house being treated as suspicious

A MAN has been found dead at his home after neighbours raised the alarm.

Detectives are treating the death of the man, who was in his 50s, as suspicious.

Police were called to the address, in Longbury Drive, St Paul's Cray, Orpington at about 8.20pm on Tuesday after residents reported not having seen the man for a few days. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 33-year-old man from the Orpington area was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning in connection with the incident.

Officers from the Met's Specialist Crime Directorate are now investigating.

They believe they know the identity of the dead man but are waiting for formal identification. Next have kin have not yet been informed.

A post-mortem will be held and an inquest opened and adjourned.
