Bodies found after search for missing men

Police are recovering two bodies from the water around Queenborough.

A police spokesman confirmed two bodies had been found in the waters off the Sheppey town.

It follows a major search operation for two men missing at sea since Sunday.

Bernie Faulkner, in his 50s, and a 32-year-old male, went missing at around 10pm after making their way out to a yacht in the harbour.

The first body was found shortly after 10.15am today, close to Ladies Hole Point in the water off Queenborough.

At about 11.25am a second body was found in the water close to the Kingsferry Bridge/Ridham Dock area.

Police have not confirmed the identities of the two bodies.

Formal identification is due to take place later today (Tuesday).

Sheppey Coastguard, Sheerness lifeboat, and Kent Police were all helped in a search by the RAF search and rescue helicopter from Wattisham.
