The tide turned at this year’s Medway universities boat race.

Students from Kent and Greenwich, the universities based at the joint campus at Chatham Maritime, battled it out on the River Medway. Following the success of last year’s inaugural race, rowers once again tackled the 1.6 mile course between Cuxton and The Esplanade, Rochester.

Last year the trophies, created by Rochester sculptor Paula Groves, were won by Kent’s women’s crew and Greenwich’s men’s.

But this year the results were reversed as Kent men’s crew walked away with the winning trophy and Greenwich women’s team triumphed. A women’s team for Canterbury Christchurch University was also due to take part but had to pull out at the last minute.
