A 95-year-old-man has died in a fire in Kent.

Crews were called to The Street in Bapchild near Sittingbourne at 7.10pm last night.

The blaze had broken out in the garden.

The pensioner had already died when firefighters from Sittingbourne and Teynham arrived at the house.

Next of kin have been informed. Crews had put out the flames and made the scene safe by 9pm.

Police are working with Kent Fire and Rescue to investigate the incident and establish what started the fire.

It is not thought to be suspicious.
