Blaze at derelict block of flats in Ramsgate

People were advised to keep their windows and doors closed this afternoon because of a fire in Ramsgate.

A blaze broke out in a derelict block of flats in The Centre at about 3pm.

The fire was out by around 5.10pm, while crews remained at the scene to damp down.

There are no reported casualties and the cause of the fire is being investigated.

Around 20 firefighters were called to tackle the blaze and Kent Police were also at the scene.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service urged people to stay inside as a precaution and keep windows and doors shut.
