Biker killed in crash with lorry

A 36-year-old motorcyclist has died after he was in collision with a lorry on the outskirts of a Kent village.

The tragedy happened on the A2070 just outside Hamstreet, near Ashford, at about 3.30pm on Wednesday.

The victim, who had been riding his machine towards Lydd, was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified.

The 32-year-old lorry driver, who had been travelling in the opposite direction, was taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital suffering from shock.

The road was closed until 9.20pm. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact PC Guy Miller on 01622 600970.
