An appeal has been made to drivers using the A259 between Brenzett and Rye in south Kent on Saturday after a motorcyclist was seriously injured.

The 25-year-old man was riding a black Suzuki motorcycle towards Rye at 5pm when it left the road on the approach to the roundabout at the Brookland junction with Straight Lane.

The motorcycle collided with the central island, hitting a lamp post and road sign. The man was taken to the Royal London Hospital with serious injuries and is in a critical condition.

The road was closed for five hours to allow officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit to work at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the motorcycle being ridden prior to the collision is urged to contact DC David Holmes on 01622 798538.
