Fundraising efforts to help repay a loan used to fly Bali bike crash victim Richard Plummer back to the UK might not be enough.

Richard's dad Eric from Loose says they are still £14,000 short of repaying the £80,000 given by a mystery donor to bring his son back from Indonesia.

His family's home could be at risk if the money is not repaid in full.

However, the three-month deadline to pay back the loan plus interest has been lifted and Eric says the family are "determined to pull out all the stops to make sure Richard has a home to come back to".

He said: "I have to, I'll raise the money on equity on the house but I don't want to do that because we've already lost our savings from paying the medical bills."

Richard is still recovering in Maidstone Hospital after coming out of a month-long coma.

He was left with serious head injuries after the motorbike crash on July 1.

His travel insurance had lapsed at the time of the crash, prompting an emergency appeal to raise the £80,000 needed to fly him back to the UK in a specialist air ambulance.

Eric and his wife June set up an appeal to raise funds soon after the crash and three months on, they are worried donations have started to dry up.

Eric said: "People still stop and ask us how Richard is but it does cross our minds that he'll be forgotten. Our main concern is that he gets better."
