More than 100 of Kent's attractions are opening their doors for free today as part of the Kent Big Day Out.

However, not all of the 18,000 tickets have been taken up.

Problems with the launch of the ticket website last month may have contributed to 14,000 people requesting tickets this year.

Sandra Matthews-Marsh is from Visit Kent who are behind the Big Day Out: "We are still happy with the uptake, it is pretty similar to last year, just a slight bit down.

"There are some tickets left, but rather than downloading them some venues are opening their doors for free.

"They are largely the smaller places, the museums, the art galleries and more quirky and unusual places that people may not have already heard of."

To find out which attractions are opening their doors for free log on to Kent's Big Day Out.

Sandra Matthews-Marsh continued: "The Big Day Out is all about going and exploring your own doorstep.

"Kent is full of fantastic places to visit, some are very well known but there are a few small gems here."
