DANGEROUS drivers who risk their lives in a daring car game are showing their risky stunts on internet video sites.

Police are trying to uncover the origins of the website which shows drivers 'sliding' in their cars along Laker Road in Rochester.

Sliding is a dangerous trick whereby drivers speed along the road pulling skids and continually slide across the road.

Residents who live nearby fear it will take a fatal incident before police take action to stop the stunts.

One resident, who asked not to be named, said: "This is happening in Laker Road and has been for some time. But do we have to wait for someone to be killed before the police take action?"

Dozens of drivers take their souped-up motors to show them off in Laker Road where they can take advantage of the quieter roads.

Last month, officers from Medway joined up with a team from the force communications centre to conduct a large road check at Laker Road. During this check, the drivers of 75 vehicles were stopped and warned.

PC Andy Ledger, who has been policing the area, said: "We will be returning to consolidate this action. We are aware of this website. The footage shown took place before we went up there."

He urged anyone with information about who is behind the website to contact the police or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
